Our growth story is grounded in our customers’ needs. Explore the timeline to learn how we’ve adapted over the years:
Changing the way we communicate
In 1984, we built our business on making our customers’ priorities, our priorities. Now more than three decades later, we’re dedicated to this same philosophy – keeping their needs at the center of everything we do. Since the beginning, we’ve helped customers across the globe/country strengthen communications, providing innovative, industry-leading technology and displays for their guests and employees alike. We are proud to deliver more than 15,000 solutions to our diverse customers and industries – including hotels, hospitals, universities, military bases, casinos and more.
1984: Sharon Morrow co-founds Morrow Technologies, determined to help companies change the way they communicate with customers. The company first begins designing and manufacturing LED displays and circuit boards, and makes its big break selling a digital display system to the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville. Soon after, Morrow Technologies engineers design and advise a Navy radar stabilization system.
1985: The second year in business proves to be a success, as Morrow Technologies continues to work with the Navy to develop a shipboard weapons control system.
1987: Morrow Technologies launches the JANUS Displays product line, with a new LED display designed for the hotel industry – many of which are still in use today.
1989: JANUS Display leads the way in innovation for digital signage, becoming the first company to deliver an integrated events management system.
1991: The company makes a name for itself in the industry, developing its very own JANUS Event Management System and continuing to provide solutions for the military market.
1992-1994: Over the next three years, Morrow engineers develop a Spectrum Analyzer for intercepting radio signals and release the new capabilities to the military market.
2001: As plasma & LCD displays grow in popularity, JANUS Displays adds these options to its portfolio and begins designing media controllers.
2004: JANUS Displays introduces interactive signage in the hospitality industry, installing the first touch screens as a way for hotel guests to find their way around, discover meetings and events, and more.
2005: Increasing solutions and operations, the company’s corporate headquarters expands and JANUS Displays integrates weather-reporting capabilities into signage solutions.
2006-2007: The company shifts focus. In 2006, JANUS Displays sells its Spectrum Analyzer product line, and in 2007, begins using non-proprietary media controllers. It also retires LED displays from its portfolio after offering the solution for 23 years.
2008: By 2008, JANUS Displays offers real-time integration for weather and flight data, and releases OS-agnostic digital display solution.
2009-2010: JANUS Displays launches a digital concierge board to the hotel market in 2009, integrating Bing Maps to explore local attractions directly from the display. By 2010, the company releases its first flight check-in feature for guests, and leads the way in events-triggered video applications in the casino market.
2011: As technology grows increasingly mobile, so does JANUS Displays. The company releases its first mobile interface for a concierge board, and displays now include motion-detection triggers to power on.
2012-2015: Morrow Technologies commits to keeping customer’s needs a priority. By 2015, JANUS Displays releases new software solutions for wayfinding, directories and interactive: Vizia Next, JANUS Wayfinder and Screen Builder.
Present day: As the world and industry evolves, the opportunity to improve visual communications evolves, too. JANUS Displays continues to make its customers’ priorities their own, focusing on innovative and high-quality solutions to move their business forward.
