Hyatt Place Indianapolis Case Study

Indianapolis – also called Indy – is best known for fast cars, renowned events, museums, parks, and a thriving culinary scene.

In spring 2019, the brand-new Hyatt Place opened in the heart of downtown Indy, offering visitors 15 floors filled with sleeping rooms, a 24/7 market, bar and balcony, and more than 3,000 square feet of versatile meeting space.

Last year, Hyatt Hotels Corporation revamped the Hyatt Place brand to focus on the guest experience, with an emphasis on well-being, dining, and technology. To meet the Indy hotel’s technology needs, the management team selected JANUS Displays to provide digital signage solutions to engage and inform their guests while onsite.

The Challenge

For the Hyatt Place Indy, it’s important for guests to feel connected and energized – despite the fast pace of the city. They accomplish this through well-designed rooms and hotel amenities, as well as technology offered through the World of Hyatt mobile app and on their property.

When the management team turned to JANUS Displays as their digital signage provider, their goal was two-fold: help guests easily find their way around the hotel, and feature meeting information that worked seamlessly with their back-end event management software.

It was also essential the solution was automated instead of manual data entry. Ultimately, they hoped to free up their hotel staff, so they could spend more time assisting guests versus managing a system.

The Solution

The JANUS Displays team implemented the VIZIA content management software, which communicates seamlessly with the Hyatt Place event-management system. This means the displays automatically update with the hotel’s inputted event and meeting information, maps, and more.

The design team also created impactful graphics that reflected the Hyatt Place brand and location, and worked alongside Hyatt’s management team to customize display frames to match the interior of the hotel.

The team installed two large, interactive reader boards on the ground and second level so guests could find their way around the hotel, along with four reader boards outside each of the meeting rooms to display the room name and function.

The content management solution makes everyone’s life easier – from the hotel staff to Hyatt Place guests, who are able to sit back and relax, knowing they have all the information they need for their travel experience, thanks to digital signage.


As Hyatt Place Indy plans for the future, their team is excited to maximize the use of their displays by featuring more photos of their property, promoting onsite offerings, advertising local retail stores and restaurants, and more.
