During a recent renovation, the management team at Hotel Alba (previously Crown Plaza) turned to JANUS Displays to upgrade their digital signage platform. What they found was a vendor worth collaborating with; one with user-friendly software, customizable hardware, and white-glove service that’s unrivaled.

The Challenge

While undergoing renovations, Hotel Alba already had digital signage in place, but the framing was outdated and the software was cumbersome to update. Although the hotel staff worked with a large, well-known visual communications company based out of Colorado, they found their customer service was lacking, and the distance between the two made it difficult to receive timely technical support, especially with Florida’s unpredictable weather and power outages.

Aside from the vendor issues, the staff also found the process to update the hotel’s displays was inefficient. In the lobby, the digital reader board often went down due to system hardware issues. The staff also struggled to keep the door cards outside of meeting rooms up-to-date, sometimes forgetting to print the signs and posting handwritten versions instead.

The Solution

When the staff at Hotel Alba met with the JANUS Displays team, they noticed a clear difference from competing vendors. Not only could the team meet and exceed their needs, but they offered competitive pricing, enhanced technology and personalized support. The JANUS Displays office was also conveniently located nearby Hotel Alba, making for a strong local partnership.

Once Hotel Alba selected JANUS Displays as the new vendor, it took only weeks to customize their content, set up the system and displays, and train staff on the new technology. With the implementation, the team upgraded the lobby display and meeting room cards to digital signage, powered by cloud-based software. The user-friendly interface allows hotel staff to update information in advance or on-the-go from a computer or mobile device. It also gives the technical team easy accessibility to fix the system if an outage occurs.

The JANUS Displays team also created custom frames to match the wood finishing throughout the hotel, along with enhanced digital content to match the unique boutique brand. The new look and feel extends the Hotel Alba experience to guests and staff alike.

The Hotel Alba management team and staff is pleased with their new digital signage solution and looking forward to new ways to improve guest satisfaction, as well as provide advertising space for vendors in the future. And although the team hasn’t had technical issues just yet, their minds are at ease knowing technical support is just a phone call, email or site visit away.

Saving Costs

Additionally, the new signage platform saves their staff time, because guests are now self-sufficient and can easily find the information they are looking for in a timely manner. The staff is also saving costs on paper for printed door cards, along with staff time spent creating and updating the information every day.
